FROM HERE TO ETERNITY ONTO MARS!

Image

The Jury is split down the middle,

As yet they cannot decide,

Whether a guilty sentence is due,

Or should the case merely be set aside.

For humanity is but a lunatic,

One who has waited so long to be freed,

From a place where the exit is full of corridors,

Some are pathways; others a creed.

Both good men, the priest and the scientist,

Yet both loved a princess with no soul,

The priest tried his level best to save her,

The scientist offered her just parole.

For the priest believes he speaks great truths,

In a manner of historical fact,

Argues the case for illusions,

Not understanding that his truth it is cracked.

The scientist does not seek to prosecute,

He simply reaches out to the stars,

For the evidence is up in the heavens,

From here to Eternity onto Mars.

There is no place to hide for the princess,

She is fully aware; knows this well,

For one door she may take leads to Heaven,

The other one she believes leads to Hell.

At End Times the scientist died a pauper,

And as a wealthy man died the priest,

The scientist now the dust of cosmic storms,

Merely a gravestone for the holy deceased.

So I say gather in all the lost ones,

And gather in all of the fools,

Give shelter to those who gamble in myths,

Yet still get to make up all the rules.

The Jury is split down the middle,

As yet they cannot decide,

Whether a guilty sentence is due,

Or should the case merely be set aside.

    1. I think I should have added that Mr Dawkins would, I suspect, be a tad more ‘in the face’ yet you are correct. At least I made an effort to acknowledge the priest as a ‘good man.’ I do not believe in aggressive atheism (or aggressive anything if the truth be told). Thanks again for the comment.
